Abseil off ledges, slide down waterfalls and splash into deep blue pools as you navigate dramatic, twisting canyons

Hike through the outdoor wonderland of Triglav National Park, exploring waterfalls, nature reserves and mountain passes

Tackle the rapids of one of the most thrilling gorges in Europe as you raft the emerald waters of the Soča River

Bunk down by the beautiful Lake Bled, home to a photogenic little church built on its own island

Key Information

Day 1

Head to beautiful Bled

Lake Bled, Slovenia

Head for the alpine town of Bled, set on the shores of one of the most picturesque lakes in Europe. Check into your hotel, meet the rest of your team and spend the evening exploring the area and taking photos of the impossibly lovely church, built on its own little island.

Day 2

Raft and hike through Triglav National Park

Hiking

2-3hrs

Rafting

1.5hrs

Head to the nearby Triglav National Park, a wonderland for outdoor adventures, for an action-packed day. Enjoy three hikes in this protected area – to the tumbling Pericnik waterfall, through the Zelenci Nature Reserve and along the Vrsic mountain pass, where you can take in some beautiful views. You'll also hit the water to raft the unique, emerald green waters of the Soča River – taking the time for a couple of swims in the refreshing water, if the weather allows. You'll return to Bled in the evening for dinner and a well-earned night's sleep.

Day 3

Splash into a canyoning adventure

Canyoning

3.5hrs

Head to either Grmecica Canyon or Jereka Canyon (two of the most scenic and dramatic gorges in Slovenia) to navigate the wild and narrow limestone channels. Abseil off ledges, jump into still pools, slide down waterfalls... canyoning is a rush, and the turquoise waters of Slovenia are the perfect place to try it. You'll have time in the afternoon to explore some more of Bled, before heading back to Ljubljana in time for your flight home.

What is the food like?

Food in Slovenia. Photo: Much Better Adventures/Lauren Roitman

Food in Slovenia is very diverse and greatly influenced by its neighbouring countries. In addition to traditional Slovenian food like meat stews, you'll also find plenty of Italian food and other international cuisine on offer: the choice is yours. Local bakeries and supermarkets are easy options for you to purchase your own lunches.

What is the accommodation like?

Hotel Astoria Standard Room
Lake Bled

You'll stay at the Hotel Astoria in a peaceful part of Bled, just five minutes away from both the lake and the town centre. Rooms have en suite bathrooms and air conditioning. The hotel offers free WiFi, a bar with a summer terrace and wellness facilities.

Upgrades

For solo travellers looking for their own space, an optional private room can be booked for an extra charge, see Optional Extras for the price. Please request this at the time of booking (this is subject to availability).

This trip has been rated as Moderate

No previous rafting, hiking or canyoning experience is needed, just a good level of fitness, the ability to swim and a willingness to handle 4-5 hours of physical activity each day. You can also sit out any of the activities if you wish. Honestly, it's some of the best rafting in Slovenia! The Soča River offers a scenic and fun experience with some moderate class II, III and III+ rapids. The water is clear and has a unique emerald colour, that makes it one of the most beautiful rivers in the world. You'll be led by an experienced and safety-focused guide. Expect to be in and out of water a lot, negotiating obstacles, and jumping off rocks into deep blue pools.

Summer in Bled is generally warm and sunny; from May to September temperatures range from 10°C to 25°C. Sunny skies are usual and any storms are typically brief – but activities on this trip normally operate in rain or shine. However, while extreme weather is very uncommon, it can impact on the activities on this trip. In the event that a planned activity cannot be run safely, an alternative activity will be offered.
